The hidden voice

Sayyiduna Umar et sent his army for Jihad and appointed Saariya as the General. The army was fighting, when on the pulpit in Madinah, Umar was giving the Khutba of Juma when suddenly Umar said, “O Saariya stay near the mountain and have your back’s facing the mountain” or hearing this, the people listening to the sermon were disturbed and could not work out why Umar had mentioned Saariya hundreds of miles away. A few days later one of the soldiers returned from the battlefield and gave the good news of victory. The soldier told the people of Madinah that the Muslim army was in a state of panic when we heard a voice telling us to remain near the mountain with our backs facing it. On hearing the voice (i.e. Umar’s) we acted on the instruction and Allah granted us victory. Nuzhatul Majaalis This story shows that by the blessing of Allah, his chosen people see and hear from distant places. Umar was preoccupied with giving Juma Khutba and yet he was aware of what his followers were doing. The knowledge of the Ghayb (unseen) is not only blessed upon Allah’s Prophets (Alayhis Salam Ajameen) but on their blessed Companions and Awliyah.

Mowla Ali’s vision of faith – Islamic stories

I once had a dream in which after the Fajr prayer the congregation sat around the Holy Prophet, who was leaning against the wall. In that instance, a woman walked into the mosque and presented the Holy Prophet with a tray of dates. He took a date from the tray and gave it to Ali and then to the rest of the congregation. At that moment Ali e awoke from the dream and had a sweet taste in his mouth. Ali left the house for Fajr and entered the mosque. The congregational prayer had already started and Mawla Ali joined in. When the prayer was finished, Ali saw that Umar Faruq sat leaning against the wall the same way as he had seen the Holy Prophet lean in the dream. Minutes later a woman entered and presented Umar with a tray of dates. Umar removed a date from the tray and presented it to All and distributed the rest to the congregation. Ali then said, “O leader of the Muslims, why this treatment towards me?” Umar replied, “O Ali, * at night the Holy Prophet, had presented you with two dates, then I Omar would have also given you two dates?” This reply shocked Ali ana and O Umar how did you become aware of this? “Umar told Ali that a true believer can see with the light of faith. Nuzhatul Majaalis Firstly we learn that the Prophet’s appearance in the dream is true and anything he Bves is real. Secondly, the story shows that Sayyiduna Umar is the rightful successor to Sayyiduna Rasulallah after Sayyiduna Abu Bakr. Thirdly, Umar had knowledge of Ali’s dream and what Ali would do and say. And yet people say that our Nabi has no knowledge of what is behind him. Who are these ignorant people? Islamic stories

Umar Justice

During his Caliphate, Sayyiduna Umar sent an army to Kisra. When the army reached a riverbank, there was no way of getting across. Army generals Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas and Khalid ibn Walid approached the river. They then addressed it by saying “If you are flowing by the grace of Almighty Allah, then we are asking you to respect the Holy Prophet Muhammad and the jurisprudence of Umar to let us pass.” The river let them pass with their horses without any problem. Nuzhatul Majaalis When a true follower submits himself fully to the way of Allah, by following the way of Sayyiduna Muhammad then he achieves capabilities that are usually beyond him. When the true believer is totally immersed in the Zikr of Allah, then Allah becomes his tongue, heart, hands, feet, etc. he reaches the stage of annihilation the aimed path of the Sufi. Ordering the river to let them pass is for these people, not a difficult task. It IS interesting to note too that the Companions sought the wasila of our Prophet e and his rightful Companions. Such action is commendable, not shirk or bid’a. Islamic stories

The decision: A hypocrite and a Jew had a disagreement over a certain issue, then decided to go. to the Holy Prophet who was not only the Prophet but also the leader of Madinah. They agreed beforehand to abide by the decision he would make. They went to the master of Madinah and explained the situation. Upon hearing both sides, the Holy Prophet gave the verdict in favor of the Jew.

The ‘Muslims’ were not happy with the decision and insisted that they went to Umar who would give a fairer hearing as the ‘Muslims’ felt that the Prophet was not paying attention. The hypocrite Muslim said to the Jew “I am not satisfied with this decision, maybe we should go to Umar.” The Jew said in reply “When your Prophet has given a verdict, why on earth do you want to hear a decision from anyone else!” But the hypocrite insisted.

When they reached the house of Umar, the Jew explained that they had already been to the Holy Prophet and that the decision was given in his favor. Upon hearing this, Umar replied, “Allow me a few minutes and I will reach a decision.” On saying this, Umar went inside and came out with a sword, and chopped the hypocrite’s head off and said “those that do not accept the Holy Prophet’s decision, then this is what they deserve.” The people of Madinah were shocked and astounded by Umar’s actions. Indeed the other hypocrites claimed that he had committed Kufr by killing an innocent Muslim. A formal complaint was submitted to the Holy Prophet regarding Umar’s behavior. Islamic stories

The Holy Prophet said, “It cannot be that Umar’s sword is used on the believers.” Then Jibreel came from the heavens with the following Ayat: Then O beloved! By your Lord, they shall not be Muslims until they make you 091 4. Islamic stories

Umar’s dual concerns:

The People and Judgment Day Sayyiduna Umar worked tirelessly for the sake of his Prophet’s Ummah. The people saw this and appreciated it very much. In their concern for their leader, they suggested to him that he should take it easy and not burden himself too much. Umar e worked so hard that he was busy throughout the day and spent the whole night in worship to Allah.

Umar listened to the people’s comments but told them that if he rested in the day then the people would not be happy and satisfied. And if I slept in peace at night what sort of Companion am I if I did not follow the Sunnah of Rasulallah and what would I say to Allah on the Day of Judgment? Kitab Mazkoor Amirul Mu’minin has two concerns. One is serving the people and the other 15 to worship Allah. Umar was conscious of the fact that both tasks were equally important and demanded one hundred percent attention. Islamic stories

Sayyiduna Umar and the thief Islamic stories

During the caliphate of Sayyiduna Umar, a thief was caught stealing. He was taken to Sayyiduna Umar where it was proved that he did steal. As the leader of the Muslims, Umar decided that the thief should have one of his hands chopped off as a punishment for his crime. The thief said “O leader of the Muslims! This is my first offense. Please forgive me.” Other people present were also sympathetic to his plea and also asked Umar to go easy on him.

But Umar knew better and said, “He is lying, this is not his first offense. Allah is very merciful in that he hides the sins of people. But this time this man must be dealt with justice.” Necklace of Pearls we learn from this story that Allah Almighty hides the sins of people when they commit it the first time. But when people begin to repeatedly re-offend then this veil IS ited and his / her actions are exposed to other people. It then becomes necessary to deal with these people with justice, according to Shariah. Umar knew that the man was lying and that the thief should be punished and not pardoned.

The Roman Ambassador Madinah. He asked “O people! Where is the palace of the caliph that I may take my horse and baggage there?” The people said to him “H. has no palace. Though he has great renown for being a commander (of the faithful) he has no dwelling except a hut like the poor.” When the ambassador from the Emperor of Rome came to meet Umar in the ambassador of Rome heard this he became more anxious in meeting him. Further on, an Arab woman saw a strange guest. “Look,” she said, “there is Umar under that palm tree.” He came near and yet stood far off. He saw Umar and began to tremble. Awe came upon the ambassador from the slumbering Umar.

He said to himself, “I have seen many kings, but never have I seen a man of great esteem and honor.” The ambassador greeted Umar and enquired about the great religion of Islam. He became so impressed by the awe but humility of Umar that he accepted Islam straight away. Masnawi Sharif This narration by Imam Rumi describes the great Sufi mystic descriptions, the way the ambassador was amazed by the simplicity of Sayyiduna Umare who at the time was the leader of a superpower. It is the way of Islam to live simply whether you are rich or poor. Modesty is a key component in Islam. It is this attribute that shone in Umar and which led to the ambassador’s eventual acceptance of the truth.

Umar and the old lady Islamic stories

Sayyiduna Umar was patrolling the streets when he saw a tent with an old woman in it. He went up to it and asked the old lady about her views of the Leader of the Faithful. The woman, not knowing it was Umar, said: ‘May Allah not do him good. Umar asked the old lady why? She told the visitor that to this day Umar had not visited her in her poverty.

Umar asked the lady how Umar was meant to know who lived at each and every place? The woman replied that the leader of the Ummah that has spread from the east to the west could not know what happened in front of him, How strange? Umar could not take anymore and weep.

Umar then asked the old lady how much grain 891 and provisions – would it take to keep this complaint about Umar secret? Islamic stories

The old lady thought that the man was joking but the man was quite serious about the issue. The woman then told the man to give her 25 Dirhams. As this was happening Sayyiduna Ali and Ibn Mas’ud came and said, “O Amir of the faithful! Asalaam Alaykum!” When the old lady heard the words ‘Amirul Mu’minin’ she began to panic and got worried. She held her head in her hands and realized that the man she was talking to was Umar.

Sayyiduna Umar saw this reaction and told the old lady not to worry. “You have said absolutely right about Umar! You have nothing to fear from me.” The two wrote a ‘pact’ in the presence of Ali and Ibn Mas’ud that on the Day of Judgment the old woman will not complain to Allah as she had accepted the twenty-five Dirhams and that both accepted fault for their respective actions.

Umar gave the twenty-five Dirhams to the old lady. He then gave the letter to his son and told him to place it in his grave when he passes away.

The letter is in Umar’s grave. Haywatul Haiwan After reading this story we should start to reflect on the actions we have committed in our lives and start to make up for them. Both were concerned about facing Allah on the Day of Judgment. Are you ready for that day? Islamic stories

Why does the River Nile, to this day, not dry up The river Nile in Egypt on occasions dry up? The superstitious people before Islam believed that the water would not flow unless a beautiful young woman was thrown into the river. The Muslims aquared Egypt and Amr bin al-Aase was appointed as the governor. The governor soon learned about the fate of the Nile at certain times of the year. The governor also learned of the superstition and told them that in Islam we do not accept that every year an innocent girl has to lose her life. He asked the people to be patient and wrote a letter addressed to Sayyiduna Umar in Madinah and described the situation. When Umar read the letter, he decided to write a reply but instead addressed the river directly. The letter said: Numl. Islamic stories

“This letter has been written by Umar bin Al-Khattab, the servant of God, and is addressed to the river. O river, if you flow by the order of Allah, then we want you to start flowing. But if you flow according to your own will, then we do not need your service. ” The letter was sent to the governor and the instructions were to bury the letter.

When the people heard that the Muslim leader had sent such a letter, a crowd emerged and the governor placed the letter in the sand. A few moments later the river started to flow, it was now flowing at a rate not seen before. Since then the Nile has never dried up in Egypt. Tarikhul Khulafa This story once again proves to Karama that Allah blesses upon his beloved Prophet’s followers. The river recognized the writing of Sayyiduna Umar and began to flow immediately. The woman replied that it belonged to Umar. “The Holy Prophet said, “O Umar! Water bags in the battle of Yarmuk

Water bags In the battle of Yarmuk many Companions got martyred. The wounded fighters were lying in the heat as they bled to death. Abu Huzaifa appeared with a large water bag on his shoulders and came to offer water to the wounded and dying. From one direction a voice came, “Water, water,” and Abu Huzaifa would then run towards that direction to offer water. When he got there he saw one of his brothers on the verge of death. But instead of taking it, he said that one of his other brothers was in more need of it than he was.

So Abu Huzaifa would run to the next person in need of water. When he got there that needy Companion told him that another brother is needy of the water more than he was. But when Abu Huzaifa got to the third thirsty person he had already passed away. Abu Huzaifa ran back to the second needy man only to see that he too had breathed his last.

And by the time he got to the first thirsty Companion he too had passed away. Seven-house neighborhood in the blessed city of Madinah

Seven-house neighborhood In the blessed city of Madinah there was a street of seven houses. The inhabitants of this street were very poor and were needy people. They spent most of their days and nights in hunger and thirst.

One day, by chance, one of the households received some meat. The people of this house who received this meat, despite being hungry thought it to be proper that they offered their neighbors the meat instead. So that is what they did and gave it to their neighbors.

The neighbors were grateful for the food but also felt in their hearts that their next-door neighbors were more deserving of it than they were. So the meat was passed on to the next house. Like the neighbors before them, the people of the house felt ashamed and embarrassed to expect the meat when their neighbors were hungry. So like before the meat was given to the neighbor.

This process continued until the meat reached the house that received the meat in the first place. When they saw the predicament they realized that the meat was in their fate after all. They cooked the meat and invited all the neighbors and ate the food together.

A desire for martyrdom

A desire for martyrdom, Abdullah ibn Habash before the battle of Uhud asked Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas to raise his hands in d’a in his favor. What Abdullah wanted to do was to pray for Sa’d if he did the same for him. Sa’d agreed to his friend’s request. Sa’d first done a d’a for Abdullah in which he said “O Allah! When the battle commences tomorrow, bring forth to be a strong and brave opponent who I can fight against so that I can kill him for your happiness. Abdullah prayed, “O Allah! On the battlefield tomorrow give me a ferocious opponent who would fight till the end so that I kill him, but I pray that I get martyred tomorrow in battle.

And after I get killed my nose and ears are cut off so that I can say to Allah that for yours and for the sake of your Rasul I have given my life.

And the response I get is a confirmation of this dedication and commitment to jihad.” The next day, the battle took place, and their dua’s were accepted. The Companions of Rasulallah showed true dedication and commitment to being martyred in the way of Allah. By doing this they showed that a true Muslim is one who anticipates the moment he can willingly sacrifice for eternal bliss in Allah’s glorious company,

We learn that the Companions did not ask each other to pray for worldly gain or pursuits but to pray for the hereafter. Furthermore, they are the proof of the Qur’anic verse that states that believers kill in the way of Allah and die for the sake of Allah. To die is nothing spectacular because death is a fact. But to die in the way of Allah as a warrior and a martyr is something commendable, unique, and praiseworthy.

We learn that the Companions were brave people in that they asked for brave people to fight against in battle. The bigger the challenge, the more satisfaction the Companions got. And not only did they show bravery but also Ishq (love) and devotion in that they wanted their martyrdom accepted by Allah and His Rasul. So whoever questions the criticism of the brave and devoted Companion faith, then what can be said about these despicable and gutless people? Islamic stories

Warrior and worshiper

Warrior and worshiper When the Muslim armies were advancing through Egypt, the Coptic king told one of his generals that he had learned that the Muslims observe the Friday with great honor and respect. So it was his idea that they should attack the Muslims when they were busy in their Friday prayers. So what the Christians did was to place four thousand troops in the hills overlooking the Muslim base so that they could prepare to attack.

The Muslim army had assembled and began the Juma prayer. When they went from Ruku to Sajda the order was given by the commander as the Copts attacked the Muslims. Many Muslims were slaughtered in prostration and many more were injured. But such was the devotion and ecstasy in their sincere worship to Allah that they continued the Jama’at (congregation) as if nothing had happened.

The Salah was completed. But once the salam of prayer was done, the Companions sprung into action and started to fight back. In no time at all the Muslims had surrounded the Copts and killed every single one in sight. Maghazi of Ibn Ishaq A Muslim prays Salah and they also fight physically in the way of Allah. True Muslims are worshipers and warriors. But these days we have people who, when told to pray for Salah, say that they are warriors, not worshipers. But as we have just read this ract does not correspond to what the Companions practiced. These Companions on the battlefield did not allow their Juma prayers to go to waste despite being attacked. They have proven that the person who prays the Salaat is the Ghazi and not the other way round.

Hanzalah the young groom On the eve of the battle of Uhud Hanzalah got married. The wedding date was fixed in advance. Hanzalah hated the idea of delaying his marriage or missing the battle. The Prophet told him to spend the night with his wife and then to join them in the morning. Hanzalah consummated his marriage and then went in the morning into battle to Uhud. Hanzalah however did not have time to bathe himself the night before. In this state, he went into battle and fought hard until he was killed in front of the Prophet.

After the battle, the Prophet ordered that all the corpses be gathered for burial. But when it came to searching for Hanzalah’s body it could not be found. The Prophet looked towards the heavens when he saw the body of Hanzalah being bathed by the angels on a radiant platform with the waters of mercy. Al-Mawahib Laduniyya, Ahsanul Waiz The Companions at the orders of the Prophet sacrificed every worldly thing for his ke.

For them, there was nothing more worthy to sacrifice. They were forever ready to be martyred in the way of Allah. Allah and His angels hold great love and respect for the Prophet’s Companions. So whoever holds anything against them, they are without Doubt misguided people with no sense of respect and honor.

We also learn from this account that wher the Prophet ifts his sight he can see the heavens and beyond which beyond the capabilities of ordinary people. So who dares to say that the Prophet of Allat is just hiking us? aedspeg

Mauz’s daughter Meur was the fortunate one to kill Abu Jahl. One day a woman selling perfumes came to his daughter’s house. They began to talk when the perfume seller discovered who she was. The perfume seller, who was not a Muslim, said to Rabee the daughter of Mauz, “You are the daughter of a man who killed a Sardar (leader).” Rabee was angered by this comment and retorted, “My father killed your slave.” The perfume seller said angrily, “How dare you call a leader a slave? It was now haram for her to sell perfume to her.” Rabee replied, “Because you called a slave a master it is now haram for me to buy perfume from you. I find nothing more distasteful or foul-smelling than your perfume.” The conversation ended there and the perfume seller left. The Prophet’s Aunt Savida Safiyyah was the dear Prophet’s aunt and Sayyiduna Hamza’s sister. She was approximately sixty years old when in the Battle of the Trench she and all the other women were placed in an enclosed fort on the orders of Rasulallah. Hassan ibn Thabit was put in charge of guarding the mothers and sisters of Islam against any threat.

The Jews thought it to be an opportune moment to attack the fort. So what the few did was to send a group to attack the fort. A Jew was sent forward to see what was happening. Safiyyah saw the enemy and told Hassan to go outside and kill him.

Hassan, however, was a very old man and could not do as told. Safiyyah took matters into her own hands and went outside and killed the enemy herself.

She returned to the fort and told Hassan to go and take his weapons and clothes off since she could not. She told Hassan not only to do that but also to chop his head off and to throw it into the enemy camp so that they may be deterred from attacking. Hassan went to the corpse and took his head off and threw il into the Jewish camp and returned back to the fort. The Jews were shocked and terrified by what they saw and said to themselves that the idea of attacking the women was pointless because there must be scores of men protecting them.

She said this and then placed the food on the table for him to eat. When he had finished eating his dinner, his wife wanted to ask him a question. She said, “Abu Talha,

what do you say if someone has been given a trust for a few days, and were then asked to give it back. Do you think it should be returned? Abu Talha said, “Why of course it should be returned straight away.” His wife then said, “And when it is returned, there should be no grief or sorrow about it?” Abu Talha said, “There should be no grief or sorrow about the matter.” She said, “Listen! Egyptians angered by the unwarranted punishment petitioned Amirul Mu’minin about the incident. The Egyptian told Sayyiduna Umar that the Governor’s son had whipped him without reason.

Sayyiduna Umar ordered that the Governor’s son be called in front of him. The Governor’s son was called, and the Egyptian was told

When the Egyptian has completed his lashing of the Governor’s son, Sayyiduna Umar told him then to lash his father, the Governor, for not preventing the attack on him in the first place. The local man said, “O Amirul Mu’minin! The result of the Battle of Hunayn was that the Quraysh of Mecca fled the battle, including their chief Malik ibn Awf. He went to Taif and sought refuge there. The Holy Prophet & ordered that if Malik ibn Awf accepted Islam, all his wealth and property would be returned to him.

Malik ibn Awf heard this news and went to the Prophet of Allah to accept Islam. The Prophet of Allah kept his promise and gave back all that was rightfully his and gave a hundred more camels. Malik ibn Awf was deceived by this act of generosity from the Prophet.

Malik ibn Awf read the following Qaseeda in front of the noble Prophet: I have not seen anyone like you in this world with whom I can compare myself.

Who always fulfills everything that he promises. There is no one more generous than him. When you ask him something, he will inform you of what will happen tomorrow.

t was the belief of the Companions that there is no resemblance to Sayyiduna Rasulallah who requested it.

And furthermore, he can tell news from the invisible, that is, Ilm a-Ghayb. So whoever holds the belief that the Prophet is like us and that he does not give us anything or that he has no knowledge of the invisible, is totally wrong, misinformed, and has beliefs that are the exact opposite of the noble Companions. We learn from this account that reciting Qasidas and Naats is the practice of opinions and therefore cannot be labeled as an innovation (bid’a), but are actually the Sunnah of the noble Companions (Radi Allah Anhuma) Followers of Abdul and who is the most generous when it comes to giving and never says “no” to Battle in his biography of the Prophet. Gold Ring Islamic stories

The Savviduna Rasulallah gold ring once distributed the spoils of war among the Companions. She distributed a lot of loot to the people who came to her. All the loot had been divided, leaving a gold ring. The Prophet raised his head and looked at the Companions and then lowered his gaze.

Then he raised his head again to look, only to look down once more. He raised his head again and called for Al-Bara ‘ibn Azib. Al-Bara ‘ibn Azib appeared before the noble Prophet. The Prophet ordered her to sit opposite him, which respectfully

The Prophet of Allah took the ring, placed it in his hand, and told him to wear it. Al-Bara ‘ibn Azib did as he was told, as was the order of the Prophet of Allah. Whenever Al Bara ‘ibn Azib met friends, he was asked why he was wearing a gold ring when the Prophet forbade it to Muslim men. His reply was that the Prophet of Allah put the ring on his hand and told him to wear it. “If the Prophet has told me to use it, who is there to prevent me from using it?

Al-Amn wal Ula

The noble Companions believed that every command of the Holy Prophet was Shariah. He makes legal everything he wishes and makes what he wishes illegal. Therefore, wearing a gold ring is Haram for all-male Muslim Ummah, but for Al-Bara ‘ibn Azibee it is permitted.

Strange Punishment

A Companion once broke his fast in the month of Ramadan. He went to the Holy Prophet and told him of his sin. He told the Prophet of Allah that he slept with his wife while fasting. The Companion came to hear what atonement he had to offer for his sin. The Prophet of Allah told him to free a slave. The Companion replied that he could not afford to do that.

The Prophet then told him to fast continuously without rest for sixty days. The Companion replied that he couldn’t do that as he could barely keep a fast one, much less sixty.

The Prophet then told him to feed sixty poor people. The Companion replied that this atonement was also out of reach. The Prophet of Allah told the man to wait there. At that moment a person arrived with dates as a gift to the Holy Prophet.

The Prophet told the Companion to go and take these dates and distribute them among the poor people of Medina. By doing that, his atonement would be offered. The Companion replied: “Ya Rasulallah! There is no person in this blessed city needier than me.” The Prophet of Allah heard these words and smiled so much that his luminous teeth gleamed and said: “Go and eat them and give them to your family, your atonement will be offered.”

Sahih al-Bukhari

when the Companions made a mistake, tried to atone for it immediately and did not delay. They went directly to the Prophet, as they knew that he could get his forgiveness from Allah. The Companion probably knew what the Sharia said about breaking the fast, but nevertheless went to the Prophet knowing and seeing that he could offer more options to offer the atonement.

The Prophet analyzed the three options of Shariah. There was nothing that the poor man could do. So, that is, the Prophet used his independence and authority to ensure that the man was expiated. And even when he was told to offer the dates to those in need and he still could not do so, the Prophet offered a solution that was indeed a reward.

The conversion of Sayyiduna Umar to Islam

When Islam had only just begun to spread in Makkah, the Holy Prophet prayed to the Almighty to grant Umar the blessed religion so Islam could gain respect. The Prophet realized the immense benefit of Umar joining his mission. As with all of Allah’s prophets, his prayer was duly accepted. The Holy Prophet was praying and Umar had left his house with the intention of killing him. On his way, he met a person who told him that both his sister and brother-in-law had accepted Islam. On hearing this he changed course and went towards his sister’s house.

Upon reaching the house he heard his sister’s voice and just walked straight in. He asked his sister “What was it that you were reciting before I entered?” At that time a person was helping the couple recite Ta-Ha. On seeing Umar enter, the person hid, as he knew the anger and strength of Umar. His brother-in-law replied that would you consider us to be bad if we were on the right path? On hearing this, Umar pushed and punched his brother-in-law Sa’id ibn Zaid.

His sister Fatima tried to separate them but Umar did not leave her either. After he calmed down, Umar asked to see the papers from which they were reading. His sister replied, “Only those who can touch the papers are pure, so why don’t you make yourself pure by performing ablution, and then read the holy verses.” Umar performed the ablution as his sister instructed and then began reading the holy script. He read the following verses: may be put to toil Nay! It is an admonition to him who fears his Lord (TaHa, 1-3) “Ta-Ha. We have not sent down the Qur’an to you O Muhammad! That you He also heard the verse:

“Surely I am Allah, there is no God but I, so worship me and establish prayer for my remembrance (TaHa 14) and when he had read a few lines, the words of Allah began to have an affect on Umar, something that he had never felt before, He turned around und suid, “take me to Muhammad”. On hearing the person who hid, got assurance that Umar would not hurt him. He congratulated Umar and said, “I have heard the Holy Prophet pray that you would enter the fold of Islam. “Umar left his sister’s house and reached the place where the Holy Prophet was. On seeing Umar approach the Prophet’s uncle Hamza and a few other Companions were concerned.

Hamza and his friends were preparing to kill Umar. The Holy Prophet was informed of Umar’s presence on the door. He came out to meet Umar and said “Are you not going to accept the truth?” Umar said to him “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that you are his Messenger “.

The other believers saw this and in ecstasy proclaimed ALLAHU AKBAR very loudly , The Prophet’s prayer was fulfilled immediately. Tarikhul Khulafa, Nuzhatul Majaalis All the Companions are noble and are blessed with a high rank, but Umar’s case is distinct, as the Holy Prophet specifically asked Allah for his entry into Islam. All the Companions are Murid’s while Umar is his Murad. Things that are asked for are dearen than those that aren’t. The enemy of Umar is an enemy of the Prophet and for them there is no help against Allah.

The proclamation of truth

The Quraish of Makkah were not happy that Umar had accepted Islam. The Muslims were having difficulty in performing their obligatory duties due to pressure from the non-believers. One day in a gathering Umar said to the Holy Prophet “O prophet of Allah, if we are on the right path then why should we hide this.

I will go out and make sure that the true message is heard and make Islam prosper.” Umar set off from the gathering and entered the Ka’ba, and started round Butos it and in doing so was reciting Kalima loudly so that all the non-believers could hear. The non-believers did not like this and attacked Umar. But Umar was so strong and powerful that he overcame their force and the attackers stood back.

Umar said “that whoever opposes the Holy Prophet and the true faith, for him Umar’s sword will be plenty”.

He then said to the Holy Prophet “there will be no gathering where we will not express the true and oneness of Allah.” O hearing this the Holy Prophet smiled and went towards the Ka’ba with Umar in front of him and Hamza behind him.

They circled the Ka’ba (Tawaf) and performed the Salah for the first time in public. Nuzhatul Majaalis On Umar’s entry to Islam, the followers gained confidence and the religion was strengthened. This proves our Prophet’s foresight in the benefit of having Umar in the fold of Islam.

not only sang his praise but they also played the duff (tambourine). The Prophet said and did nothing and listened to the girl’s Naat Sharif (eulogy, praise). As they were playing Abu Bakr walked in be continued to perform.

But once Umar e emerged the girls stopped playing, and hid. Umar said to the girls that they should he girls carried on playing. When Ali entered the girls saw him and still scared of the Prophet of Allah and not him. The Holy Prophet save all this happen smiled and said “O Umar! Little girls are scared of you and so is the Devil!”

Mishkat Sharif

This beautiful story shows that praising the Prophet was done in front of him. This is true to the extent that the Prophet had no complaints that they were playing the duff. We also learned that the stature of Umar was well known throughout Madinah. Shaytan (the cursed) avoids the path of Umare, • 145 •

Umar’s mansion in Paradise

On the night of Mi’raj our Nabie saw a very big and beautiful mansion. In the courtyard, he saw a woman performing wudu. He asked the lady whose house this was? The woman replied that it belonged to Umar. The Holy Prophet said “O Umar! I would have entered the palace but then I thought of you and about your modesty and sincerity.” Umar Saner Umar then began to weep. “Ya Rasulallah! Am I embarrassed? My parents are sacrificed upon you”

The justice of Umar

During his Caliphate, Sayyiduna Umar sent an army to Kisra. When the army reached a river bank, there was no way of getting across. The general of the army, Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas and Khalid ibn Walid, approached the river. They then addressed it by saying “If you are flowing by the grace of Almighty Allah, then we are asking you for the respect of the Holy Prophet Muhammad and the jurisprudence of Umar to let us pass” The river let them pass with their horses without any problem.

When a true follower submits himself fully to the way of Allah, by following the way of Sayyiduna Muhammad then he achieves capabilities that are usually beyond him.

When the true believer is totally immersed in the Zikr of Allah, then Allah becomes his tongue, heart, hands, feet etc. he reaches the stage of annihilation the aimed path of the Sufi. Ordering the river to let them pass is for these people not a difficult task.

I will return and become Muslim. ” Keemiya Sa’adat Under the caliphate of Sayyiduna Umar, the lands of Islam spread very far and wide. And despite all the riches at his disposal, Umar followed the Sunnah of his Nabi and remained modest in all of his life transactions. Why the River Nile to this day has not dried up

The river Nile in Egypt would dry up. The superstitious people before Islam believed that the water would not flow unless a beautiful young woman was thrown into the river. The Muslims conquered Egypt and Amr bin Al-Aas was appointed as the governor. The governor soon learned about the fate of the Nile at certain times or also learned of the superstition and told them that the year.

The governor in Islam we do not accept that every year an innocent girl has to lose her life. When Umar read the letter, he decided to write a reply but instead addressed the river directly. The letter said:

The hidden voice Sayyiduna Umar

sent his army for Jihad and appointed Saariya as the General. The army was fighting, when on the pulpit in Madinah, Umar was giving the Khutba of Juma when suddenly Umar said, “O Saariya stay near the mountain and have your back’s facing the mountain.” On hearing this, the people listening to the sermon were disturbed and could not work out why Umar had mentioned Saariya when he was hundreds of miles away. A few days later one of the soldiers returned from the battlefield and gave the good news of victory. The soldier told the people of Madinah that the Muslim army was in a state of panic when we heard a voice telling us to remain near the mountain with our back’s facing it.

On hearing the voice (i.e. Umar’s) we acted on the instruction and Allah granted us victory. Nuzhatul Majaalis This story shows that by the blessing of Allah, his chosen people see and hear from distant places, Umar was preoccupied with giving the Juma Khutba and yet he was aware of what his followers were doing. The vision of faith Mawla Ali

I once had a dream in which after the Fajr prayer the congregation sat around the Holy Prophet, who was leaning against the wall. At that instance, a woman walked into the mosque and presented the Holy Prophet with a tray of dates. He took a date from the tray and gave it to Ali and then to the rest of the congregation. At that moment Ali awoke from the dream and had a sweet taste in his mouth.

Umar removed a date from the tray, presented it to Ali and distributed the rest to the congregation. Ali then said, “O leader of the Muslims, why this treatment towards me?” Umar replied, “O Ali, if at night the Holy Prophet had presented you with two dates, then I Umar would have also given you two dates?” This reply shocked Ali and he said: “O Umar how did you become aware of this?” Umar told Ali that “a true believer who can see with the light of faith.” Nuzhatul Majaalis Firstly we learn that the Prophet’s appearance in the dream is true and anything he gives is real.

The decision

A hypocrite and a Jew had a disagreement over a certain issue. They decided to go to the Holy Prophet who was not only the Prophet but also the leader of Madinah. They agreed beforehand to abide by the decision he would make. They went to the master of Madinah and explained the situation.

Upon hearing both sides, the Holy Prophet gave the verdict in favor of the Jew. The ‘Muslim’ was not happy with the decision and insisted that they went to Umar who would give a fairer hearing as the ‘Muslim’ felt that the Prophet was not paying attention.

The hypocrite Muslim said to the Jew “I am not satisfied with this decision, maybe we should go to Umar” The Jew said in reply “When your Prophet has given a verdict, why on earth do you want to hear a decision from anyone else! ” But the hypocrite insisted.

When they reached the house of Umar, the Jew explained that they had already been to the Holy Prophet and that the decision was given in his favor. On hearing this, Umar replied, “Allow me a few minutes and I will reach a decision.” On saying this, Umar went inside and came out with a sweet and chopped the hypocrite’s head off and said “those that do not accept of Madinah were shocked and astounded by Umar’s actions. Indeed the other hypocrites claimed that he had committed Kufr by killing an innocent Muslim. A formal complaint was submitted to the Holy Prophet & regarding Umar’s behavior. The Holy Prophet said, “It cannot be that Umar’s sword is used on the believers.” Then Jibreel the Holy Prophet’s decision, then this is what they deserve.

” The people came from the heavens with the following Ayat: Then O beloved! By your Lord, they shall not be Muslims until they make you

judge in all disputes among themselves, then they find no impediments in their hearts concerning whatever you decide, and accept from the core of their hearts. The other children May Allah have mercy on us so that we can cook our food and stay alive. Mother O my children don’t panic. Have patience and faith in Allah, InshaAllah the curry will be cooked soon. On hearing the heartbreaking conversation between the mother and her starving children, Umar and his Companion decided to enter the house.

Mother, Who are you people? What are you doing in my house! Umar My friend and me were just passing your house when we heard about your moving conversation with your children and we decided to come in to see if everything was OK. Mother What will you do by listening to my sorrows! If you choose to listen or not, it’s not going to affect me in any way.

Umar Don’t take us as your enemy, tell us about your situation and I guarantee we will do everything to help you. Mother I am a poor, helpless mother with kids. I am not happy with the leader of the Muslims. He has been appointed to serve and protect us, but he has not even looked at a poor widow with kids. It has now been two days since my kids and I have been starving and just to satisfy my children I have put 164

the curry to cook on the stove, But I can assure you that besides water the curry has nothing in it. It’s a shame that the leader has no knowledge of this. Umar But how do you expect the leader to know if he is not informed? Mother, It is the duty of the leader to be aware of all individuals living in his kingdom. If he cannot do this then he has no right to be a ruler.

I will complain to the Holy Prophet on the Day of Judgment regarding his negligent behavior. Umar began crying as he left the house, although the woman did not know that he was the leader.

He was crying at the fact that someone was not happy with his governance and was going to submit a formal complaint. He left the house and returned with a bag of flour. Umar thanked Allah for the flour.

Companion O Umar! I plead with you to allow me to carry the burden but you refuse. Umar O friend, will you help me carry my weight on the Day of Judgment? If not, then let me carry my own weight. Mother O brother! May Allah shower numerous blessings upon you, it looks as though you are an angel who has come to our aid in the form of a human. Umar Please leave the conversation for later and let me perform my duties.

Umar then removed flour from the bag, prepared the dough, and made the bread. His Companion states that Umar then fed the kids and happily talked to them. This produced a smile on their faces and the Companion heard Umar say, “the eyes that saw these children cry, have now seen them smiling.” Mother O lovely man! You are a genius, you have helped relieve my problems Umar O lady.

Are you happy now that your kids are fed? Will you then on my behalf forgive the Muslim leader for not paying attention to you? Could you ensure that you do not complain to the Holy Prophet ở on the Day of Judgment? Mother, why are you so worried about the leader? Umar First promise you that you have forgiven him, then I’ll tell nok Mother, OK I forgive him.

But I pray that Allah removes him and makes you the leader instead. Umar O sister, your request to Allah is also true! Mother, how can that be? Umar removed the veil that had been covering his face and revealed himself to the woman. 991

Umar O sister, look here. Mother 1 can’t believe it is you O Amir! Muntakab Kanzul Aamaal Hakayatul Sahaba The moving story that brings tears to the eyes of the believers shows the deep sincerity of Sayyiduna Umar. His sense of justice and piety was such that he would not allow his Companion to take any responsibility that belonged to him. Umar teaches us to remember the fact that on the Day of Judgment we will give an account of all our deeds.

First aid

Even though Sayyiduna Umar was the ruler of the Islamic Empire, there would be times at night when he would be patrolling the streets. Once he saw a tent that he had never been there before. When Umar got closer he saw that a man was sitting outside the tent, he approached the man, sent him greetings, and asked him where he had come from.

The man replied that he was a traveler and had come especially to talk to the leader of the Muslims about his requests. Umar then heard some sounds coming from the inside of the tent. He asked the man what the noises were and he replied,

“my wife is about to give birth the pains of Tabour have begun.” Umar asked the man whether there was another woman nearby, but the man hadn’t seen anybody.

Umar ran from the che and went straight home. He told his wife where he had come from and what the situation was and that they have got a chance to earn a big reward from Allah. They have the necessary items that would need and rushed back to the scene.

Umar’s wife entered the tent whilst Umno: lit a fire and put the curry to cook. Then Umar’s wife Umme Kulthum shouted from the tent that “O leader of the Muslims tell your friend that his wife has given birth to a baby boy.” When the man heard Umar’s wife shout “leader of the Muslims” he began to panic. Sayyiduna Umar told the man not to panic and sent the food into the tent so that he and the new mother could eat.

Ashraful Mushahir Hakayatus Sahaba

The people’s leader is the people’s helper. Umar t despite being a very powerful man helped all people whether they were rich or not, educated or not. Today’s leaders only look after themselves and only appear to look out for in the interests of the people. If more leaders governed today as Sayyiduna Umar did then the world would be a much better place.

Umar and the old lady

One day, Sayyiduna Umar was patrolling the streets when he saw a tent with an old woman in it. He went up to it and asked the old lady about her views of the Leader of the Faithful.

The woman, not knowing it was Umar, the woman said: ‘May Allah not do him good.

Umar could have taken the more and wept.

Umar then asked the old lady how many grams and provisions it would take to keep this complaint about Umar secret.

The old lady thought that the man was joking but the man was quite curious about the issue.

Haywatul Haiwan

After reading this story we should start to reflect on the actions we have committed in our lives and start to make up for them. Both were concerned about facing Allah on the Day of Judgment. Are you ready for that day?

The tasty sweet-dish

for him alone. At one point Umar wrote a letter stating that the land i.e. Azerbaijan that they had conquered was not only a result of their efforts alone or that of their fathers. But it was a result of an entire Muslim collective effort. Umar concluded by saying that the Leader of the Faithful will only eat that which is for all.

There was some delay in conquering Alexandria when Umar the Khalifa wrote to Amr ibn al-Aas and told him to step up the campaign. The command followed and Alexandria was conquered and a messenger returned to Madinah with the good news.

It was mid-afternoon and the messenger thought that maybe the leader was resting therefore did not give the news to Umar but headed towards Masjid Nabwi.

There he saw a woman to whom he gave the glorious news. The woman went to Umar’s house to give him the good news when the messenger reached there too.

Umar asked the messenger why he did not come to Umar first. He replied that he did not want to disturb the Muslim leader in case he was having an afternoon nap.

This made Umar angry. “If I start resting during the day then who will serve the people?” Umar reflected on the news and thanked Allah.

Umar’s dual concerns: People and Judgment Day

Sayyiduna Umar e worked tirelessly for the sake of his Prophet’s Ummah. The people saw this and appreciated it very much. In their concern for their leader, they suggested to him that he should take it easy and not burden himself too much. Umar worked so hard that he was busy throughout the day and spent the whole night in worship to Allah. Umar listened to the people’s comments but told them that if he rested in the day then the people would not be happy and satisfied. And if I slept in peace at night what sort of Companion am I if I did not follow the Sunnah of Rasulallah, and what would I say to Allah on the Day of Judgment?

Kitab Mazkoor

Amirul Mu’minin has two concerns. One is serving the people and the other is to worship Allah. Umar was conscious of the fact that both tasks were equally important and demanded one hundred percent attention.

The Roman Ambassador

An ambassador from the Emperor of Rome came to meet Umar in Madinah. He asked “O people! Where is the palace of the caliph, that I may take my horse and baggage there?”

The people said to him, “He has no palace. Though he has great renown for being a commander (of the faithful) he has no dwelling except a hut like the poor.”

When the ambassador of Rome heard this he became more anxious in meeting him. Further on, an Arab woman saw a strange guest.

“Look,” she said, “there is Umar under that palm tree” He came near and yet stood far off.

Masnawi Sharif

This narration by Imam Rumi, the great Sufi mystic, describes the way the ambassador was amazed by the simplicity of Sayyiduna Umar who at the time was the leader of a superpower. It is the way of Islam to live simply whether you are rich or poor. Modesty is a key component in Islam. It is this attribute that shone in Umar and which led to the ambassadors eventual acceptance of the truth.

Sayyiduna Umar and the thief

During the caliphate of Sayyiduna Umar, a thief was caught stealing. He was taken to Sayyiduna Umar where it was proved that he did steal.

As the leader of the Muslims, Umar decided that the thief should have Đve of his hands chopped off as a punishment for his crime.

The thief spoke “O leader of the Muslims! This is my first offense. Please forgive me” The other people present were also sympathetic to his plea and also asked Umar to go easy on him.

But Umar knew better and said, “He is lying, this is not his first offense. Allah is very merciful in that he hides the sins of people.

But this time this man must be dealt with justice.”

Necklace of Pearls

We learn from this story that Allah Almighty hides the sins of people when they commit it the first time.

But when people begin to repeatedly re-offend then this veil is lifted and his / her actions are exposed to other people.

It then becomes necessary to deal with these people with justice, according to Shariah. Umar knew that the man was lying and that the thief should be punished and not pardoned.

The Martyrdom of Sayyiduna Umar

One night Umar had a dream that a red-colored bird had attacked him several times. He told this dream to the people in a religious sermon.

The dream was interpreted that Umar would be martyred. Before the Fajr prayer, Umar straightened the rows, as was his habit.

When prayers started Firoz stabbed Umar in the back, causing Umar to fall. The attacker ran away but was eventually caught.

Firoz realized that he would be punished according to the Islamic Shariah and committed suicide. The prayer had not yet finished, so Umar asked Abdur-Rahman ibn Awf to continue the prayer and finished his own prayer sitting down.

When the prayer ended, Umar asked Ibn Abbas regarding the attacker. Abbas replied that it was Firoz. Umar thanked Allah that no Muslims had been involved.

The people surrounded Umar and gave him some drinks, but to no effect. A young man came to see Umar and whist he walked away Umar saw his trousers dragging on the ground, he asked the boy to alter his trousers so that they wouldn’t pick up dirt from the ground and that Allah would be pleased with this act.
